On 20th August 2009, a team of fisher women representatives from coastal villages of Thanjavur District were visited Hatchery cum Research Laboratory of Centre of Advansed Study in Marine Biology, Annamalai University. This programme was organized by OMCAR Foundation with CAS in Marine Biology as a follow up of the One Day Training Programme in May 2009.

On 31st May 2009, FARMCs - Tamil Nadu was launched during the one day seminar on “Hatchery Production of Ornamental fishes” inaugurated by Mrs. Priya Ilangovan, Chairman of Pattukkottai. FARMCs refer to Fisheries and Aquatic Management Councils. The council was initiated by OMCAR Foundation with the objectives of empowering fisher participation in regional environmental conservation and management activities.



Assessment of Seagrass Beds, Associated Fishery and Socio Economics of Northern Palk Bay, South
Seagrasses are the only flowering plants, living immersed in seawater and are capable of doing reproduction entirely underwater. Seagrass ecosystems constitute an essential part of marine habitats in continental shelf waters throughout the world, except polar regions. There are 60 described species of seagrasses worldwide, within 12 genera, and 4 families and orders.
   
 
Ten climate change 'flagship' species named at Copenhagen summit
Starving koalas and homeless clownfish are among ten species likely to suffer huge losses due to global warming, according to a report released today at the Copenhagen climate change conference by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
One Day EMR Training Programme - November 2009
One day field training programme on Ecological Mangrove Regeneration was conducted by OMCAR Foundation for the staffs of CReNIEO, Chennai. CReNIEO has recently launched their mangrove restoration programme in Pulicat Lake, Tamil Nadu, funded by Global Nature Fund, Germany.
